Lauder Monument Restoration Event

Join us for a special event to commemorate the successful restoration and access improvements to the Lauder Monument at 12 noon on Friday 28th December 2018, at Invernoadan by Strachur, Argyll and Bute.

The event will also commemorate the 102nd anniversary of the death of Captain John Lauder who bravely fought and died in the First World War.

There will be short musical tributes and recitals performed by talented local youngsters and others drawing on the works of world famous entertainer Sir Harry Lauder who erected the monument in 1921 in memory of his son Captain John Lauder.  Sir Harry Lauder purchased nearby Invernoadan House and the 14000 acre Glenbranter estate as an engagement present for him and his bride to be, Mildred Thomson in 1916. Sadly John was tragically killed in WW1 before they were married.

Please be advised to wear suitable footwear in the event of inclement weather.
