projects

Project work is a central part of the work of the Friends as it is a way to carry out practical activities which contribute to conserving the landscape of the National Park. For the last 30 years the Friends have been involved in projects, mostly around the Loch Lomond area including:

• An archaeological survey of the 23 islands and 10 crannogs
of Loch Lomond was published in 1997 accompanied by
production of publication of the information for the general
public. A follow- up survey was conducted in 2007.

• The construction of a network of footpaths and longer
distance walks on the western side of Loch Lomond in
the Tarbert and Arrochar area in partnership with Forest
Enterprise.

• Managing a conservation task force involving 35 employees
carrying out task in the Loch Lomond area including building
the promenade at Luss, paths and viewpoint at Duck Bay
